Launch of the DCC:
International Support
Last week, Arsenal Media and France's Dagobert announced the launch of the Digital Content Circle (DCC), a think tank focusing on project design and content issues related to the digital out-of-home (DOOH) industry. The endeavour has sparked a great deal of interest among industry players around the world. It appears that that market has been waiting for just such an initiative.
The official launch of the DCC took place in Paris during the Viscom international trade fair for visual communications, which was held from September 22 to 25. Unveiled during the opening presentation on DOOH 2.0, the DCC was also promoted via a media relations campaign in Europe and North America and circulated via numerous industry media and specialized marketing sites.
BROADENING THE DIALOGUE
The news was also enthusiastically greeted by many other stakeholders in the international arena, several of whom have highlighted the importance of such a project and agreed that the sector is mature enough to set up this kind of a forum. In this regard, the project initiators, Olivier Debin (Dagobert, France) and Denys Lavigne (Arsenal Media, Quebec), are unanimous: "The positive reaction we have received bodes very well for the future of the project. There is clearly a shared interest in exploring and, to a certain extent, demystifying the aspects involved in DOOH content creation and project conceptualization. The involvement of experts from various sectors of the industry will be an undeniable asset. They will help broaden the dialogue and provide even more concrete tools to help turn out high-quality DOOH projects."

TAKING PROJECT QUALITY TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Among the other supporters of the Digital Content Circle initiative are the Show+Tell agency (New York) and the DailyDOOH blog (London). "By holding the DOOH industry up to regular scrutiny, we will undoubtedly see the best and the worst it has to offer. We feel that the presence of a group like the DCC will help take the quality of DOOH projects to the next level, not only from a visual perspective but also in terms of overall audience experience. Our industry needs a stronger voice when it comes to content issues. This forum for content developers and DOOH specialists, where ideas and methods can be exchanged, will help us all hone our best practices," says Adrian Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief of the DailyDOOH.
The beta DCC site was launched on September 18, 2009. The final version is to be rolled out by February 2010.
